About the Author

Michael A. Dirr, professor emeritus, horticulture, University of Georgia, is widely acknowledged as one of the leading experts on trees and shrubs for landscapes and gardens. He holds BS and MS degrees in horticulture from The Ohio State University and the Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts. Dirr has introduced over 200 woody plants to cultivation and holds 29 patents with the UGA Research Foundation. With two partners, he established Plant Introductions, Inc., a breeding and introduction company in 2006, selling it to Bailey Nurseries in 2015. Dirr continues to work in lockstep with the American nursery industry to introduce and promote new trees and shrubs.

Most definitive book on Viburnums with pictures and cultural information. Handy resource for designers and landscape professionals. Didn't realize how many and how much I did not know about this plant till I read this book.

The book was in good condition as promised and this book is THE definitive book (so far) on Viburnums.

I own several Michael Dirr books and they're the gold standard for me. I bought this one for my wife and she likes it. She is a Georgia certified Master Gardener transplanted to the Shenandoah Valley. She's having a blast in our senior years landscaping and planting a new home here and she knows her stuff. This book makes her happy. Wife happy? Me happy.

Terrific. I enjoyed it greatly and would recommend for gardeners wishing to expand their knowledge base. Dr. Dirr is always a go to for me and for my son who is an arborist.

Dr. Dirr's books are always well done and enjoyable to read and to have in one's library. I'd class them all as wonderful additions to a solid basic library on gardening, but not as a foundation book. If your budget is limited, you may find more basic books more useful (but not more enjoyable).

This book details the different types of Viburnums that exist around the world. It details each one in easy to understand language and has multiple photos to help identify them. The book also includes information about pests, diseases and best ways to propagate viburnums. Great reference book!

Very thorough book , but I wouldn't expect anything less from Mr. Dirr, awesome, dedicated researcher.

this book has everything that you would ever need to know about viburnums. just like his tree book, it describes in detail the growing habits, zones, blooms, etc. anyone who likes viburnum or desires to buy some should read this book and choose the ones they desire then.
