While traveling in time and distance from the Moon to Montana, from Galilee to the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, from 200 years ago to 2024 -- all the pressing issues facing planet Earth are addressed seriously and still manage to be exciting and enjoyable entertainment. This is a real page turner. There are some preachy moments, but Jesus Christ(!) what do you expect from a book with Jesus Christ in the title!?Everything from climate change to gun control to women's reproductive rights to gay rights to wealth disparity is woven seamlessly into the narrative. When seen through the eyes of Jesus Christ himself (the actual guy) – these issues take on a deeper meaning than red and blue or right and left. This book brings it all back to right or wrong, doing so with a heaping dose of good humor. You’ll think, but you’ll also laugh. You may even snort. Don’t drink your milk while reading this book.First and foremost, this book is a fun science fiction tale of space and time. There are adventures and wondrous places with relatable characters you’d enjoy getting to know. The concept of time travel is always a very precarious issue to navigate successfully. The author put in the required time, without a time machine, to answer conundrums caused when messing with timelines, to come up with a timely and plausible sequel to his first effort.In this second edition, Marty and Nellie have grown up a little. The Krichards are less prevalent, but their technology plays an important role. I want a Chromosphere Cruiser! And I seriously need that translator implant.Jesus Christ as a stowaway to the 21st century is a godsend. I never thought the Bible character had much of a sense of humor, causing him to be very 2-dimensional to me. This makes him relatable as a human being whether or not you think his dad is a deity.Christians should especially enjoy this book because Jesus Christ is more believable in this version, with more character to boot. If you live your life asking, “What Would Jesus Do?” then this book is for you! Jesus Christ is a major contributor to the story and every premise is contingent upon his existence and participation. Without giving anything away, the real hero who saves the world is Jesus Christ, the actual guy, more than Marty and Nellie or their Krichard friends.I dare everyone to read this book for a snorting good time and if it makes you think, well, it won’t hurt your head too much. I promise.

I like many things about Time Is Irreverent 2. The writing of Marty Essen touches my senses. He uses his knowledge as a travel writer to describe remote locales like Antarctica and Pluto. I can visualize myself hiking and jumping on the surface of Pluto. I learned that Antarctica is a very loud continent with all of arctic animals and ice cliffs. I would love to see and hear these things for myself because of the descriptive way Essen writes. I also love the elements of science fiction in this book. I would to travel through time. Iwould love to have the ability to speak a new language by using a simple device. I also love to change my clothes and heal my body wounds by pressing a button on a space ship. The visual quality of writing is what I love the most about Time Is Irreverent 2.Marty Essen gives readers his assessment of the current political climate. He uses humor to show crazy our political system has become. I never thought that Jesus Christ could be a funny character in a book, but I enjoy Essen's unique depiction of Jesus as a person struggling to adjust to pop culture. I love the rock music references he uses. He honors Keith Richards by naming an alien race named KRichards. He makes references to Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders and Tina Turner by humorously using their names for his female characters. Time Is Irreverent 2 is an entertaining and informative book.

After reading the first book, I had an idea what to expect and couldn't wait to check out the further adventures of Marty Mann and Smoking Hot Nellie. Don't worry if you haven't read the earlier book as there's a quick recap of those events worked into the first chapter.My only complaint was that I zipped through the book too quickly. I was anxious to see if the time travel succeeded in changing the dreadful things happening to the U.S. and the world under the toxic presidency. Along the way, Jesus Christ comes along to check out the modern world and try to undo the bad things happening under the name of religion. Of course, I won't spoil the surprises, but there are some rough times ahead for the three main characters.One wouldn't think that the mix of time travel, politics, religion, and humor would work so well together but the author manages to pull it off. I hope he is starting a 3rd book, as I'd sure like to read it.

If you liked the first book in the series, be prepared to enjoy this one as well. After all the time traveling and trouble that Marty and Nellie went through in the first book to save the world, someone or something has put the world back how it was, with a dim witted egomaniac president lobbing nukes around for fun. Well, if you had a time traveling space ship, you’d have to do something, but you wouldn’t be as funny, or have the help of personal friend, Jesus Christ.The book starts out with a recap of the adventures from the first book in the series and then takes off, hilariously sending up organized religion, political science conservatives, social mores and more.
