Okay short story with illustrations about a disobedient dog that gives into its love for sniffing temptations, even though it's mother has told it not to, digs a hole under the backyard it resides in fence and goes sniffing around town. Sniffer emulates 90's standup comedians who like to swear for emphasis, street cred or whatever and liked to use the s word every sentence, but since this is a kids' book it's written as pooh. This gets annoying after a while, and even confusing when he actually finds the real stuff, as up to then he'd used the word as something he liked but then suddenly he has a problem with the real thing. The book could be formatted better for the Kindle Fire, as it takes up around the middle third of the book for most pages, a bit more when there's more text. If it was formatted properly the illustrations would be better and the text a bit larger, which would add for a better reading experience. Remembering kids don't have the reading level that adults do is something often forgotten by Indie kid book authors, and smaller text is harder for them to read.With the cover illustration I was expecting to run into some fleas somewhere, guess that's a different book. Not a great deal happens in the storyline, he sniffs a few things, gets chased by a bully dog, that's about it.

I got this for my non-English speaking grandchildren: it is useful to read something easy in a foreign language.I could not download it to my Kindle, had to have it on my computer.There were nice repetitions of actions (nose up) and words (sniff sniff sniff) making it easier for small English children, or older foreign children, to feel they understood the story. Children like repetitions.Other reviewers write about 'pooh,' I did not see that word, I saw Phew (sic) Whew is a word that I learned as a child could be used to mean getting our breath back and also a sort of 'wow,' while  the OED defines phew as a sound of disgust. A bit confusing, as the dog we were reading about liked the smell .So when I read it aloud, I made my voice happily impressed with some of the whews,(phews) pretending the dog was really happy to smell this object. I felt whew was a better word. (But I am curious ...Is phew pronounced pooh in American?)The illustrations were really nice and to the point, showing in a different medium what was going on in the story.

This was a really cute story.Pros:It really reminded me of a small puppy testing boundaries - which translates to children testing boundaries.Cute illustrations.Cons: Type was small on the Kindle version and could not be adjusted. Difficult for this granny to read, but not impossible.Second, I could not figure out why Sniffer kept saying/thinking "Pooh". I would hate for my grandson to pick up that habit.At first I thought it was because he smelled pooh. Then, it was more like a substitute used instead of "damn". It just did not work in the story and would have been better without it.

I enjoyed the storyline and the illustrations, too! I don't believe I found anything bad in this book. Therefore I wish to recommend this for kids ages 3-7 years old who loves dog stories. I wanted to rate this for five stars for all the reasonsmentioned in the above sentences. I received this for free and in return, here is my honest review. Super work Pippa! By Sunny.

Again this was a free book on kindle...I’m not sure how some of these free kid books get such good reviews. I mean no disrespect by any means but I’ve found that the freebies are usually not very good. I will stick with all the better books from the library. This particular one was ok but after reading once it got deleted.

Got this on a whim for my daughter and it was an instant hit, for her and my son. The story is simplistic, yet keeps the kids engaged and entertained. There is even a tad of humor in one of the pages. The illustrations are cute, and fit with the story. Nice quick bedtime story book.

Cute story with nice little pictures and a fun story about a puppy who can't seem to keep his nose out of trouble. Lucky youngsters get to follow along as Sniffer goes around doing what he does best. He likes to smell and sniffer heads into trouble, just like all of us when we go outside the boundaries. Good book to let kids read alone or have read to them.

This is a fun book to read. My granddaughter has been reading books for school and I through that she might enjoy this book. She enjoying reading this book and would like to read more Sniffer books! We have a black lab and she said Sniffer reminds me of our dog!
